Few drivers have enjoyed a career as varied and successful as Belgium’s Jacky Ickx. Best known for his six victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Ickx was also one of the top drivers in Formula One, finishing second in the 1970 world championship for Ferrari, and later driving for Lotus, McLaren and others. In sports cars Ickx scored his first world championship victory at age 22, driving a Ford GT40 at Spa in 1967. His first Le Mans win came two years later in another GT40, with five more to follow between 1975 and 1982 driving mainly for Porsche. In the 1980s and 1990s Ickx built a new career driving in the grueling Paris-Dakar desert rally, winning the event for Mercedes-Benz in 1983. Through it all Ickx earned universal respect for his speed, intelligence, and polished demeanor on and off the track.
Originally published in Germany, this fully-illustrated, 256-page hardcover covers every stage of Ickx’s career through detailed text presented in German and English. Author Ed Heuvink’s words are accompanied by hundreds of brilliant color and black-and white photographs drawn mainly from the McKlein motor racing archive. There are also testimonials from Derek Bell, Brian Redman, Jackie Stewart, and others, as well as a Foreword by Mario Andretti, who drove with Ickx at Ferrari. Despite his record and reputation, few books have been dedicated to Jacky Ickx and his remarkable career. David Bull Publishing is proud to partner with Germany’s McKlein Publishing to bring Jacky Ickx: Mister Le Mans, and Much More to a wider audience of racing fans.
“A fitting tribute to a charismatic, complex—and oh-so-quick—all-round racing hero.”

“This being a McKlein book, the selection of images is as good as it gets.”
